Fix actions and the Action Items list

How the Fix button works, where action items come from, and what closing one actually does.

Last updated 18 July 2026

Every failed check on a report is a compact row with a Fix button. Clicking it does two things: it generates the fix instructions for that specific problem, and it promotes the issue onto your Action Items list, the standalone worklist at /app/actions.

That click is deliberate. Nothing lands on your worklist because we decided it should; the list holds the issues you chose to handle, and it starts empty.

What a fix looks like

Fix instructions are generated for your actual situation, not copied from a template. When your domain's own DNS shows which providers you use, the steps name them and link their consoles: the record to add, the exact host and value, where to click in your DNS provider. No DNS knowledge is assumed.

Each action item opens a two-tab view. Details covers what the problem is, why it matters and the recommended solution; How to Fix is the step list, with check-offs so you can track where you got to. The same card and tabs appear on the report page where you clicked Fix, so nothing forces you to switch surfaces mid-repair.

Generated fixes are cached: re-opening one is instant and doesn't spend anything.

How the list is organized

Items group by severity, the same bands as reports: Critical for outright failures, Warnings for risky configuration, Minor for the low-impact cosmetic tier (BIMI and friends). Groups collapse, and each shows a count, so a long list stays scannable. Every item carries its origin: the check that raised it.

Closing an item

Close asks for confirmation, and the wording matters: only close an item if you've applied the fix. Closing is bookkeeping, not repair. The next monitoring cycle re-checks reality, and if the problem is still detected, the item reopens.

That loop is the honest part of the design. The list can't be gamed into green; only DNS can do that. If you've made the change and it's not being picked up yet, propagation is the usual suspect: Added a record but it won't validate? covers how long to wait and what to look at next.

Closed items move to a Closed section rather than vanishing, so the history of what you fixed stays visible.
